America 250 Begins Here
Honoring America’s 250th Anniversary
On Saturday, Feb. 21 the museum will host several speakers and a special guest beginning at 10:30 a.m. at Clinton City Hall, which is adjacent to the Sampson County History Museum.
10:45 a.m. - Posting of Colors by the Sons of the American Revolution
Secretary Pamela Brewington Cashwell, N.C. Dept of Natural & Cultural Resources
11 a.m. - Speaker Jack Fryar, Author & Historian, speaking on The Revolutionary War in Southeastern N.C.
11:30 a.m. - Speakers Nancy Chavis, Director/Curator of the Museum of the Southeast American Indian, and
Cory Brewington, Coharie Tribal Historian. Both will speak on the Native Americans’ Contribution to the American Revolution.
Afterwards all are invited to visit next door at the museum for refreshments furnished by the Richard Clinton Chapter of the Daughters of the Revolution, and music by the Dulcimer Ensemble of First Methodist Church and Mrs. Barbara Bullard, violinist.
Please join us as we proudly honor American Revolutionary War heroes David Dodd and Richard Clinton with a wreath-laying ceremony. The event will begin at Beulah Baptist Church on Saturday, Feb. 28 at 11:00 a.m. and conclude at the courthouse around 11:45 a.m. We invite the public to come remember their service and sacrifice.
